THE WEDDING PRESENT + Precious Few Planta Baja

THE WEDDING PRESENT + Precious Few Planta BajaPrecious Few are a German duo who have reduced their music to just acoustic guitars, melodica and vocals. The latter having been compared to the likes of Nico, former “femme fatale” singer of the Velvet Underground’s first album, and to Polly Jean Harvey.
Although they wear their British and American “Indie pop” influences on their sleeves, Precious Few have still managed to carve out
their own musical niche with their voice and instrument arrangements and unique sound. Their songs tell stories of everyday life, of family and friends, of places and objects. Kitchen-sink dramas for the 21st century!
After initially working together on a musical project with classical arrangements, Barbara and Chris decided to create a new band,
Precious Few, in 2008. Live performances soon followed, with prestigious support slots for the likes of “Shoegazer” pioneers Cranes as well as Suede’s former frontman Brett Anderson, Maximo Park´s singer Paul Smith and Chapel Club.
Chris and Barbara have both played and recorded with a variety of other bands (including Dorian, Gloria and Bizibox). These groups
have toured Germany extensively and have been the opening acts for such artists as The Wedding Present, Stars, Adam Green, Feeder,
British Sea Power, Mew, Eskobar, and MIA.
David Gedge, of the legendary Indie pop group The Wedding Present, had personally invited the duo in 2010 to join him and his band on a European tour. In 2011 Precious Few played at David Gedge´s festivals At the Edge of the Sea in Brighton and At the Edge of the Peaks in Holmfirth.
The band will be releasing their debut album by the end of the year.
Come and catch them live and enjoy the beauty of their sparse soundscapes!
